Shogun Tactics was made as a proof of concept game for my thesis in 2017
The purpose of the thesis was to illustrate how editor extension can be used to develop games in Unity, For this purpose, I transformed a prior made isometric stealth game into a turn-based strategy game
While the game is incomplete, using all the tools created specifically for the project one could ideally create a full game with relatively small effort. The game features a basic level of AI and pathfinding.
For more details read my thesis on the subject.
The game takes place in 2D-isometric maps and plays similarly to games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics
To beat each level player must complete certain objectives such as defeating all enemies or surviving x-number of turns Missions and maps are created directly with editor tools without the need to program.
Project status: Ended
No tactics game is complete without an item system of some kind
Each character can be equipped with items that are created directly inside Unity editor
How an item is used and how it behaves in-game is fully customizable.
